Château Bastor Lamontagne 2015
Bastor was already an important estate in the 18th century. Oriented towards mixed farming, it specialised from 1839 onwards under the impetus of Amédée Larrieu, then owner of Haut-Brion. Today, a beautiful unit of 40 ha, planted on a sandy-gravel terroir - one of the largest in Sauternes. Owned by Crédit Foncier since 1987, the vineyard was bought in July 2014 by the Moulin (Galeries Lafayette group) and Cathiard (Smith Haut Lafitte) families. In organic conversion. The same owners run Ch. Bordenave organically. Favouring freshness over concentration, Bastor-Lamontagne is one of the promoters of "modern" Sauternes, and this 2015 is a perfect example. The floral and delicately woody nose announces a harmonious, supple palate with a persistent freshness. It is best served as an aperitif, without neglecting more daring gastronomic combinations.
